Be Activities Wise – summer campaign
Helping to keep children safe in sports and social activities during summer in Stoke-on-Trent and Staffordshire
There are lots of organised activities that kids can get involved in that take place outside school hours. It’s important that parents, carers and leaders of activities recognise the role they need to play in helping keep their kids safe when taking part. That’s where Be Activities Wise can help.
Following the recent high profile allegations of historical abuse of young athletes by adults in a position of trust, the Be Activities Wise campaign encourages parents and activity leaders to think about the role they need to play in safeguarding children to help make sure they stay safe in all the organised activities they take part in, from sports to music, arts to book clubs.
It’s likely that children will be taking part in more of these sports and social activities during the summer, so the campaign is being run all throughout the summer holidays to remind both parents and activity leaders to be safeguarding-ready for summer.
This campaign has been developed by Stoke-on-Trent City Council, Stoke-on-Trent Safeguarding Children Board, Staffordshire County Council and Staffordshire Safeguarding Children Board.
