Teacher: Mrs Whitmore

Teaching Assistants: Miss Blundred

Class 6W, where the W represents: Wonderful and Wacky! These are the words which describe our fabulous class. In our class, there are 31 of us, plus our fabulous teacher, Mrs Whitmore and our fantastic teaching assistant, Miss Blundred who we couldn’t live without! This year will be tough but we are all in it together and we will smash those SATs as a team.

We would like to share some information with you about life in 6W.
6W is a busy learning environment where you will always find us working very hard and enjoying our lessons. Every minute is taken up with learning (usually about Grammar because Mrs Whitmore is obsessed)! We have very high expectations which motivate us to achieve our best. We are a team and we always work together to achieve more!

This term our topic is ‘A Child’s War’, ‘where we have already started learning about life during World War II, even dressing up as evacuees for our launch day!. We are looking forward to going to on our trip to learn even more about the cause of World War II, life during and after the war as well as how times have changed. After October half term, our topic will be ‘Frozen Kingdom’, learning all about life in the Artic and even creating our own igloo out of milk bottles.

In English, we use many different texts to enhance and support our learning. Some we will be using this year include: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe and Goodnight Mister Tom for guided reading to work alongside our topic. We love to read and delve deep in to various different books. We read a lot during our time at school as well as at home (Mrs Whitmore is always checking our reading diaries!)

On a Friday we have Music with specialist our specialist music teacher, Mr Chubb, which we really enjoy and develop our musical skills. On a Tuesday, we have PE with our PE specialists, Mr Bell – he teaches us many different sports including dodge ball, football and dance. It’s one of our favourite lessons of the week! Also on a Friday, we have Big Maths – we love completing our times table rainbow tests and trying to get onto gold.

As a class, we experience lots of different lessons and we get to learn in many different ways. We believe that we should never be ashamed to make mistakes and that it helps us and others to learn. We always try and remember to remind ourselves that it is okay to make mistakes but it is not okay to try. Our teachers love it when we participate and share ideas in lessons because it shows we are eager to learn. Our school values are really important to each of us, and we always strive to demonstrate them to show that we are true Eaton Park People and become MASTERS. We hope you have enjoyed meeting us and we hope you can see how fantastic life and learning is in 6W!
