Teacher: Mrs Bradshaw

Teaching Assistant: Mrs Simpson

This year in class 3B you will find 30 wonderful children along with their teacher Mrs Bradshaw and teaching assistant Mrs Simpson. The children have settled in really well to their new classroom and key stage. The children have started the new school year off excited and eager to learn and we hope that this continues. You will find that we are not always quiet in our classroom, but that’s because we are such eager learners – we love to talk about our work and learning!

An important part of being in 3B will be celebrating our achievements together – it is very important to praise each other when we are doing well; it helps to motivate us and keep us on task. We can’t wait to start earning dojos, and collecting our attendance marks in the hope that we will have 100% attendance by the end of the term to enable us to go on a special trip.

What we are learning:

This year in Year Three, we have some wonderful new topics to explore. Our first topic will be called ‘Flow’. Here, we will explore the water cycle, learning about and researching famous rivers around the world and thinking about their features. We are also lucky enough to be going on our own adventures to take part in our very own river study!

To begin with in English we will be diving into the book called The Great Kapok Tree. We are looking forward to reading the text and exploring the language as a class before using it to help with our fabulous writing.
As well as English we cannot wait to begin to work our way through the exciting Year Three Maths curriculum. Place value, addition and subtraction are just a few of the concepts which we will begin with.

In 3B, we also love our PE sessions with Mr Bell and enjoy our music sessions with Mr Chubb. Our spelling sessions will also be really helpful to us and help us to progress – we will be using Read, Write, Inc practise books to learn the different spelling rules and patterns. We are already trying really hard with our handwriting; however, there is always room for improvement, and this will also be an important part of our learning each week.

Helping us at home:
Homework is an extremely important part of our learning in 3B, and with the help and support from home we now this will have a great impact on our learning journeys. The children are encouraged to read at least three times a week with an adult who will need to sign their diary. As well as this, the children will be expected to practise their spellings and their times tables. These will be tested every Friday and their scores will be sent home. To add to this, the children will be receiving a maths homework book where homework tasks will be set to move our learning in class forwards.

Our school values are really important to each of us in 3B, and we always strive to demonstrate them to show that we are true Eaton Park People. We hope you have enjoyed meeting us, and we hope you can see how exciting our life and learning journey is going to be in 3B!
